Balaam is a pagan prophet, a seer, and a diviner. He is a smart guy who knows how to “see” the future based off reading patterns in animals. He had to know animals, flight patterns, and even claimed he was able to look at the liver of a dead animal to help predict the future. He was also believed to have claimed to be a sorcerer that could influence human events to bring about his desired outcome. Balak, King of the Moab people, wants Balaam to help him destroy the Israelites because he fears them.

From Series: "Legends Of The Fall"

We spent twelve weeks during the summer going through a series called Coloring Book All Stars, about the heroes you would find in children's bible coloring books. Legends of the fall is the inversion, the negative, of that. Legends of the Fall is a time where we will look at the bad guys, the non-hero's, found in the Scriptures. Every once in a while you may find them in the coloring book, but not always in a positive light (and that is probably a good thing). We will look at how, even with all of their flaws and scars, they resemble us. We will also look at how Jesus has rescued us, by His grace, from the fall.
