Today we look at the story of David and Bathsheba. There are two stories people remember about the life of King David, his highest triumph (when David slew the giant Goliath) and his lowest personal defeat (when David gave in to personal temptation and slept with a woman who was not his wife). For every Goliath we seem to be able to defeat, there is a temptation, like Bathsheba, waiting to take hold of our hearts.
We spent twelve weeks during the summer going through a series called Coloring Book All Stars, about the heroes you would find in children's bible coloring books. Legends of the fall is the inversion, the negative, of that. Legends of the Fall is a time where we will look at the bad guys, the non-hero's, found in the Scriptures. Every once in a while you may find them in the coloring book, but not always in a positive light (and that is probably a good thing). We will look at how, even with all of their flaws and scars, they resemble us. We will also look at how Jesus has rescued us, by His grace, from the fall.
